Don't you think it's about time that we create a Family Cookbook? Well, I DO! I've spent some time researching trying to come up with the easiest (free) way to get it going, and I believe this is it. Please post any of your favorite recipes, also any tips -- cooking, household, beauty, whatever -- and any inspirational thoughts (whether your own, or someone else's.) I would LOVE to have pictures to include as well. You could take pictures of the dishes/recipes you are submitting, or even just great pictures (or even below average pictures) of you and your family!

Please label each post with an appropriate label (i.e., salad, dessert, vegetarian, household tip, inspiration, etc.) Go ahead and add labels as needed; and it's ok to have more than one label per recipe/post.

My plan is to take what we assemble here, and put it into book form. I would love to have it ready for our Thanksgiving Extravaganza!

Rice-a-Munee (Food Network, Guy's Big Bite)

2 cups basmati rice
1 lb. spaghetti noodles
3 T. butter
1 T. e.v.o.o.
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
3 slices prociutto, chopped
1/2 cup white wine
3 cups chicken broth (or eliminate white wine, and use 3 1/2 cups broth)
handful frozen peas

Heat liquid in microwave.
Heat oil and buter in sauce pan until bubbly. Add rice. Break pasta into 1" pieces and add to pan. Stir and allow some browning, but don't let it burn. Add onions, peppers, garlic and prociutto. Stir and watch pasta for burning. Add liquid, cover and simmer 'til rice is tender (about 18-20 minutes). Add peas last few minutes of cooking.

Serve as a side with chicken or fish.
